Many items are specifically for certain types of hero character or race (although it seems the latter affects this far less).
An example is Copied Pages - melee combat. Imagine how excited Terzle was to find these in a dungeon. Poor lad was so excited that he too could be like Dill, but sadly he is practically illiterate (well totally if truth be told). But he thought he could learn … then we checked in the library (clicking on the words copied pages to get the pop-up), Terzle discovered that he would never be able to use these because he is an adventurer.
But there are many in the group who could carry the pages in their pockets and save the day in combat.
So this is in a way the purpose of the game … to get us to think about each other and realise we will not get through without co-operation.
